St. John's Lutheran Church

Our Beliefs

Jesus is at the center of all we do. You will experience that when you come to St. John’s. The life of Jesus is seen in the stained glass windows that depict His work. Our service is the Word of God from beginning to end. The hymns speak the truths of scripture. God’s law leads us to see that we fall short of His glory. With joy, we receive the good news that we are forgiven through the blood Jesus shed for us on the cross. Special music from our Praise Team and Bell Choir enrich our time together around God’s Word.

We are a member of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a church body that holds the Bible highly. We believe and confess the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in the three following phrases.

Grace Alone: God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He loved the world so much that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to redeem creation. He sent Jesus to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.

Faith Alone: By His suffering and death, Jesus won forgiveness for all people. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Those who hear the Good News about Jesus and believe have forgiveness, life, and salvation. Faith is the gift of God.

Scripture Alone: The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word. In it, He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.
